The name Plateia derives from the Greek word for town square [with streets] and is pronounced Pla-tey-ah. A town square is where communities come together to share and grow. It is how we approach our work.

The City of Vancouver is updating their zoning bylaw to be user-friendly and streamline the development process. Plateia Planning is helping the City to create a user-friendly, graphical, accessible, and interactive zoning bylaw that will be integrated into a future online platform. 


London, ON

ReThink Zoning

Plateia Planning, with Intelligent Futures, Fotenn, and McElhanney, have been retained by the City of London, ON to determine the best zoning approach that will implement their unique vision to 'balance use, form, and intensity'. 

The Town of Okotoks had not comprehensively re-written their land use bylaw since 1998. With a new Municipal Development Plan in process, they hired Plateia Planning, with Intelligent Futures and DAAS Architecture, to prepare an innovative land use bylaw that is enables for sustainable growth.

Regional District of Nanaimo, BC

Bylaw 500 Update

The Regional District of Nanaimo’s Zoning Bylaw was written over 40 years ago and is close to their 500th amendment.  They hired Plateia Planning with Intelligent Futures to update and modernize the bylaw including research and amending the bylaw for 22 key focus areas. 

Our Zoning Blueprint was Beaumont’s Land Use Bylaw Re-write project. The community wanted a innovative approach to land use that would integrate the newly annexed lands, simplify and clarify the regulations, provide clear design standards, streamline the application process, and implement the strategic direction and vision of the Municipal Development Plan.
