Land Use Bylaw Re-Write
The Town of Okotoks had not comprehensively re-written their land use bylaw since 1998. With a new Municipal Development Plan in process, they hired Plateia Planning, with Intelligent Futures and DAAS Architecture, to prepare an innovative land use bylaw that is enabled for sustainable growth.
Known for their adherence to sustainable practices, the new Okotoks Land Use Bylaw will implement many progressive measures to realize that vision in a regulatory format. It is expected to set the bar for future zoning bylaws.
Led by Plateia Planning, the consultant team is responsible for the overall strategy for the new land use bylaw, the engagement process and discussions with stakeholders, research on best practices, mapping, and drafting of the bylaw. Our team works closely with the Town to ensure the bylaw works with the Town’s processes and structure, and respects the local context.
The public hearing for the bylaw is anticipated for January 2021.
